Edition 2025 — Marranzano World Fest
The 16th edition of the Marranzano World Fest celebrated the 20th anniversary of the first edition in 2005 with a format spread across time and space: preview events and residential experiences throughout the summer, followed by a grand finale in the historic center of Catania from October 3rd to 5th. Key venues included Palazzo Scammacca and the Palazzo della Cultura, featuring concerts that blended Sicilian tradition with international masters of frame drums and idiophones.
Marranzano World Fest 2025: twenty years of music and encounters
The sixteenth edition of the Marranzano World Fest, scheduled in Catania from September 21 to October 5, 2025, celebrated the twentieth anniversary of the festival with a format spread across time and space, featuring summer previews and a grand city finale.
The grand finale (October 3-5)
- Friday, October 3, Palazzo Scammacca: the concert "L'Aquilegia: Cantar al ferro" with Teodora Tommasi (vocals and Renaissance harp) and Federico Rossignoli (jaw harp), blending Renaissance sounds with contemporary experimentation.
- Saturday, October 4, Palazzo della Cultura: the "Concerto delle Due Sicilie" with Patrizio Trampetti, Alfio Antico, Amedeo Ronga, and Jannà Romano, alongside frame drum masters Glen Velez (USA, Grammy winner), Murat Coskun (Turkey), and Andrea Piccioni (Italy).
- Sunday, October 5, Palazzo della Cultura: the Celia project based on texts by Antonio Veneziano, the Nuhara trio, and the closing performance by masterclass participants and the Percussio Mundi orchestra.
Organized by the Associazione Musicale Etnea, the twentieth-anniversary edition reaffirmed the festival's vocation to unite Sicilian musical roots with the horizons of international world music, in the heart of Catania.
