Market Exhibition of DOP Spelt and Typical Mountain Products

The 2025 edition of the Market Exhibition of DOP Spelt took place in Monteleone di Spoleto from December 5th to 10th, in a special format dedicated to the spelt sowing season. Six days that combined local specialties, archaeology, and Christmas festivities in the highest municipality of Umbria, in the province of Perugia.

The festival opened on December 5th, the eve of San Nicola's feast day, with the distribution of the San Nicola Soup blessed by the parish priest, recalling the legend of the saint who saved children from hunger. On December 6th, the patron saint's day, a solemn Mass was held, followed by a performance by the Monteleone di Spoleto Band and a gathering of the Family Heads. Between December 8th and 9th, the DOP Spelt and typical products market exhibition was set up in the square below the Clock Tower, showcasing DOP, DOC, DOCG, and IGP products from the Valnerina in a Christmas setting. December 9th marked the grand finale with the lighting of the Wool Tree, the Valnerina Nativity scene in Ruscio, and the Focone della Venuta, the bonfire that illuminates the passage of the Holy House of Nazareth.
