Edition 2025 — Mario Pompei. Being a Set Designer
The rediscovery of the work of Mario Pompei (1903-1958) is part of a broader study and valorization of 20th-century Italian artistic heritage promoted in the Marche region. A set designer, illustrator, and poster artist, Pompei lent his name to opera, drama, variety shows, and children's theater, as well as to the famous character Pinco Pallino, created between 1929 and 1930.
The curatorial research by Pierfrancesco Giannangeli and Maria Letizia Paiato on the Pompei Archive laid the groundwork for the exhibition project that, in 2026, brought sketches, sets, and costumes by the artist to the Museo di Palazzo Ricci in Macerata and the Civic Museums of Palazzo Pianetti in Jesi, Province of Ancona.
