The 2025 edition
The Marcia del Perdono 2025 was held on Saturday, August 2nd, on the fixed date that coincides with the Pardon of Assisi. As per tradition, the initiative was promoted by the Municipality of Poggio Bustone and the Pro Loco together with the Franciscan Convent of San Giacomo and the Italian Alpine Club (CAI).
The pilgrimage followed the now customary route: gathering in the village, climbing on foot along the Way of St. Francis through the woods of the Rieti Holy Valley, and arriving at the Sacro Speco, the cave where, according to tradition, St. Francis received the assurance of forgiveness. Upon arrival, the blessing with the saint's relic and Mass in the chapel concluded the day.
A sober and well-attended event, which every year brings dozens of hikers to the heights and confirms Poggio Bustone as one of the most intense stages of the Franciscan pilgrimage in Lazio.
