Mankarru Folk Festival 2025
The 12th edition of the Mankarru Folk Festival was held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, starting at 9:00 PM, in Piazza Milite Ignoto in Santa Lucia del Mela, Province of Messina. The free, open-air evening brought the best of Sicilian folk music to the square with performances by the groups I Beddi and La Coppola Nera, featuring traditional dances, songs, and sounds.
A special highlight of this edition was the award presented by the Municipal Administration to Luciano Maio, musician and founder of the historic Taberna Mylaensis, in honor of his 50-year artistic career: a tribute to one of the leading figures of the Sicilian folk scene. The event took place as part of the Madonna della Neve celebrations and the town's summer calendar.
