Edition 2025 — Maitanzfest Schenna

In May 2025, the Maitanzfest did not yet have its own edition: the event was in fact established in 2026 as a new appointment in the Schenna calendar. However, the tradition of folk dance in the Burgraviato municipality was already well-rooted, carried forward by the folk dance group (Volkstanzgruppe Schenna) and the Schützen company, who enlivened numerous village festivals and anniversaries throughout 2025 with music, Schuhplattler, and folk dances.

The Maitanzfest is a recently established event: its first edition is scheduled for May 2026 in Schenna, in the province of Bolzano. In 2025, therefore, no festival was held under this name. The culture of folk dance in the Burgraviato was, however, already alive thanks to the activity of the Schenna folk dance group and the Schützen company, protagonists of traditional village festivals, Kirchtag, and anniversaries in the South Tyrolean calendar. From this lively tradition, the idea for the Maitanzfest was born, which, starting in 2026, dedicates two days in May to dance in Raiffeisen Square.
