Magma – International Short Film Festival

The 24th edition of Magma – International Short Film Festival was held from November 3 to 8, 2025, between Acireale and Catania. The program alternated masterclasses, special sections, and the international competition: on November 3, the masterclass and screening of Canicola by Ulrich Seidl at Cinema King; on November 4, the Insula – Impressions of Sicily section in Catania; on November 5, Eksperimenta with video art and experimental shorts; on November 6 and 7, the International Competition; on November 7, Magma Youth and a live performance by Alosha.

The international jury, composed of Selim Evci, Jane Alexander, and Gianluca Santoni, awarded the Lorenzo Vecchio Award for the best short film, the Audience Award voted by the public, the Insula Award for the best Sicilian film, and several special mentions. The awards ceremony took place on November 8 at the Margherita Multisala in Acireale. In June 2025, the spring part, Magma Debut, dedicated to debut works, had taken place.
