Edition 2025 — Magma Debut
The fourth edition of Magma Debut was held from June 16 to 20, 2025, in Catania, at the Arena Argentina and the King cinema. Five debut feature films competed for the Debut Award.
In competition: U are the Universe by Pavlo Ostrikov (Ukraine), Cherry Juice by Mersiha Husagic (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Meat by Dimitris Nakos (Greece), The Village Next to Paradise by Mo Harawe (Somalia-France), and Piggy by Carlota Pereda (Spain).
The award was given to U are the Universe, praised by the jury for writing that was "apparently simple but very subtle, rational, and at the same time emotionally stimulating." The jury consisted of director Davide del Degan, professor Giovanna Santaera, and screenwriter and director Pietro Parolin. The artistic direction was by Andrea Magnani.
