Edition 2025 — Maggio di Accettura

In 2025, Accettura celebrated the Maggio during Pentecost days with the usual arboreal rite: the selection of the oak in Montepiano and the holly in Gallipoli Cognato, the transport by oxen to the village, the joining and raising of the tree in the square, and the procession of San Giuliano.

The 2025 edition of the Maggio di Accettura renewed one of Italy's most famous arboreal rites. After the spring selection of the Maggio and the Cima in the woods of the Gallipoli Cognato Park, the community dragged the two trees to the village with the strength of oxen and men. The climax, during Pentecost, was the raising of the tree in the square and the solemn procession of San Giuliano Martire, the patron saint of the village, amidst faith, collective effort, and ancient propitiatory traditions.
