Madonna di Tagliavia Festival

The 2025 edition of the Madonna di Tagliavia Festival was celebrated in Vita, in the province of Trapani, on Ascension Day, fully reviving the centuries-old tradition. From the afternoon, the rural guilds — Cavallari, Burgisi, Viticoltori, Massari, and Pecorai — brought the evocative cavalcata to life, parading on festively adorned horses and mules, followed by typical Sicilian carts. Confetti, candies, hazelnuts, olives, and pouches of wine rained down from windows and carts, while the ox-drawn carriage distributed cucciddati, the votive breads that symbolize the festival. The day reached its climax with the evening procession of the Madonna del Rosario painting, concluding in Piazza Luigi Pirandello with a pyromusical show.
