Edition 2025 — Madonna di Ognina Feast

The 2025 edition of the Madonna di Ognina Feast took place in Catania around September 8th, the feast of the Nativity of Mary. From September 5th to 7th, the Bluefish Festival was held in Piazza Ognina, with local fishermen grilling fresh fish amidst music and entertainment. On the morning of September 8th, the traditional 'svelata' of the statue was celebrated at 8:00 AM, followed by the boat race and the sea procession along the coast.

In 2025, the seaside village of Ognina, in Catania, celebrated its most beloved feast from September 5th to 8th. From September 5th to 7th, the Bluefish Festival animated Piazza Ognina: fishermen grilled and served fresh fish, while live music and performances accompanied the evenings.

The highlight was the 'svelata' on September 8th at 8:00 AM, with the appearance of the illuminated statue on the high altar amidst hymns, fireworks, and applause. In the following days, the boat race in the gulf and the evocative sea procession with festively decorated fishing boats took place, followed by the procession through the streets of the neighborhood.
