Edition 2025 — Madonna di Maggio
The 2025 edition of the Madonna di Maggio
In 2025, the community of Sant'Oreste once again renewed its vow to the Madonna di Maggio on the last Sunday of the month, May 25. At the conclusion of the Marian Month, the evening procession carried the effigy of the Virgin through the streets of the village, decorated with flowers and illuminated arches, up to the Chapel of Saint Anthony facing Mount Soratte.
As per tradition, upon the arrival of the procession, the reed bundles prepared throughout the year by the volunteers of the Festival Committee were simultaneously ignited on the mountainside, transforming the Soratte into a trail of fire visible from the entire Tiber Valley, before the grand finale with fireworks. A day of celebration, music, and devotion that confirms the vitality of one of the oldest folk traditions in the province of Rome.
