Madonna della Sciara Festival

The 2025 edition of the Madonna della Sciara Festival was celebrated on Sunday, August 17, at the Mompileri Sanctuary, a hamlet of Mascalucia (CT), within the framework of a special year: 2025 was a jubilee year and the sanctuary was designated a jubilee site by the Archdiocese of Catania, attracting pilgrims from the entire Etna region and Sicily.

As per tradition, the Saturday evening vigil opened the festivities with the opening of the Sacred Grotto and the procession of the statue of the Madonna delle Grazie towards the sanctuary. The festival day featured parish pilgrimages, solemn holy masses, and, in the evening, the evocative candlelight procession with the entry of the statue into the sanctuary.
