The 2025 Madonna della Scala Festival
The 2025 edition of the Madonna della Scala Festival renewed a centuries-old devotion in Massafra, with festivities concentrated around the first Sunday of May. As per tradition, the novena prepared the community for the solemn day, celebrated in the rock-hewn sanctuary carved into the ravine.
The festival featured the handing over of the city keys to the Madonna by civil and religious authorities, processions along the streets of the historic center with the gold and ivory-adorned statue, artistic illuminations, brass band concerts on the bandstand, and evening fireworks. An event that every year unites faith and popular tradition in the Municipality of Massafra, in the province of Taranto.
