Madonna della Croce Festival

2025 Edition

The 2025 Madonna della Croce Festival was celebrated on Sunday, September 7 in Ustica, in the Contrada Tramontana, confirming one of the most deeply rooted traditions of the Palermitan island. In the nine days preceding it, the novena took place, with the statue of the Madonna carried from the small church of Passo della Madonna to the main village church.

On the day of the festival, the statue crossed the island on a decorated Ape, followed by young people on scooters; in the afternoon, the procession traveled through the district with the lighting of traditional bonfires and the singing of hymns and prayers. After the open-air mass, the community gathered in the fields for barbecues, music, and dancing, in a popular festive atmosphere until late at night.
