Madonna dell'Altomare Festival

2025 Edition

The 2025 edition of the Madonna dell'Altomare Festival took place in Otranto on September 6 and 7. The three-day preparation (September 4-6) at the Parish Church of Maria SS. Immacolata marked the days with the rosary and holy masses, keeping the chapel open to the faithful.

On the evening of September 5, the conference 'The Sea: Gift and Duty' was held with Archbishop Francesco Neri and Prof. Stefano Piraino. September 6 was dedicated to Salento folk music with the live 'Balla Balla Tour' concert. On Sunday, September 7, after the morning masses and the 34th 'Trofeo Don Luigi Mariano' sailing regatta, the solemn Eucharistic celebration presided over by the Archbishop and the sea procession with civil and military authorities and maritime associations took place. The day concluded with an evening brass band concert and the 'Luci sul Mare' fireworks display at the port of Otranto, in the province of Lecce, Puglia.

2025 Program

• September 4-6 — Three-day preparation at the Parish Church of Maria SS. Immacolata: rosary and holy masses, chapel open until late evening.
• September 5, 7:30 PM — Conference 'The Sea: Gift and Duty' with Archbishop Francesco Neri and Prof. Stefano Piraino.
• September 6, 10:00 PM — Live concert 'Balla Balla Tour', Salento folk music.
• September 7, morning — Holy masses (8:00, 9:30, 11:00); 34th 'Trofeo Don Luigi Mariano' sailing regatta; morning concert by the Gran Concerto Bandistico Lirico-Sinfonico Città di Racale.
• September 7, 5:30 PM — Solemn Eucharistic celebration presided over by Archbishop Francesco Neri on the chapel square.
• September 7, 6:30 PM — Sea procession in the port with the laying of a laurel wreath in memory of those lost at sea.
• September 7, evening — Brass band concert (9:00 PM) and 'Luci sul Mare' fireworks display (approx. 11:30 PM).
