Madonna del Castello Festival

2025 Edition

In 2025, the Madonna del Castello Festival took place on Sunday, April 27, Domenica in Albis, following Easter on April 20. At dawn, devotees reached the Castello di Montechiaro to retrieve the sacred 16th-century statue, beginning the pilgrimage toward Palma di Montechiaro. After the vestment ceremony at the city entrance, the parade of caparisoned horses and Sicilian carts accompanied the Virgin to the Mother Church.

For 2025, the Municipality and the Pro Loco had opened registrations for the horse and cart parade. The statue then remained in the city for about a month, according to the usual tradition, before the return procession to the castle on the Sunday preceding the Ascension.
