Edition 2025 — Macerata Opera Festival

The 61st edition of the Macerata Opera Festival took place at the Sferisterio Arena from July 18 to August 10, 2025, featuring Lehár's The Merry Widow, Verdi's Rigoletto and Macbeth. The programme also included the ballet Carmen by the Antonio Gades Company and an opera gala. It was the first edition under the guidance of the new artistic director Marco Vinco.

The 61st edition of the Macerata Opera Festival was staged at the Sferisterio Arena in Macerata from July 18 to August 10, 2025. The programme featured three main titles: Franz Lehár's The Merry Widow (a new production in Italian, directed by Arnaud Bernard), Verdi's Rigoletto in the historic staging by the Associazione Arena Sferisterio (directed by Federico Grazzini), and Verdi's Macbeth in the acclaimed production by Emma Dante, awarded in Edinburgh in 2017.

The programme was completed by the ballet Carmen by the Antonio Gades Company (July 29) and a brilliant Opera Gala (July 31). The edition, the first under the artistic direction of bass-baritone Marco Vinco and superintendent Lucia Chiatti, concluded with great success among audiences and critics, recording an average of over 2,000 paying spectators per evening and growing interest from the international press.
