Lu Signuri di li Fasci - Good Friday

On Good Friday, April 18, 2025, Pietraperzia, in the province of Enna, celebrated its most identity-defining rite. The day began at 3:00 PM with the lowering of the Crucifix from the Chiesa del Carmine; in the evening, around 8:00 PM, the vertical raising of the beam marked the highlight of the procession. About 200 white linen ribbons, 40 cm wide and 33 meters long, were tied to the cross and held by the faithful to keep the structure balanced. The procession crossed the city streets with evocative passages through the narrowest roads, where the ribbons were tightened or loosened to facilitate transit, amidst silence and deep devotion.
