The theatre season of the Bastione Sangallo Municipal Theatre in Loreto
Loreto in Scena is the theatre season of the Municipality of Loreto, in the Province of Ancona, in the Marche region. The shows are held at the Bastione Sangallo Municipal Theatre, a historic venue housed in one of the 16th-century bastions that surround the village, a short walk from the Sanctuary of the Holy House. The festival is promoted by the Municipality of Loreto together with AMAT (Associazione Marchigiana Attività Teatrali), with the support of the Marche Region and the Ministry of Culture.
The strength of Loreto in Scena lies in its variety: in just a few months, it moves from author-driven prose to civil theatre, from comedy to live music, as well as shows designed for children and families. The programme alternates well-known faces from Italian television and stage with companies and artists from the Marche region, creating a journey that appeals to a broad and diverse audience.
In recent years, the festival has brought highly popular performers to Loreto, from film and TV actors to journalists and cultural figures who take to the stage to share their stories. Alongside them, there is space for children's theatre productions and musical projects, making the Bastione Sangallo a cultural hub not only for the city but for the entire Vallesina and the Conero coast.
Attending Loreto in Scena is also a way to discover a different side of Loreto, beyond its role as a pilgrimage destination: a vibrant town with its theatre, its squares, and a cultural season that accompanies residents and visitors through the colder months. Evening performances are usually held at 9:15 PM, while family shows are in the afternoon.
The 2026 edition of Loreto in Scena ran from January 17 to May 15 at the Bastione Sangallo Municipal Theatre in Loreto, with a rich and varied programme promoted by the Municipality together with AMAT. The lineup alternated major names from the national scene, civil theatre, live music, and offerings for children, confirming the multidisciplinary vocation of the festival.
The complete programme included fourteen events, with additional prose performances and offerings from regional companies.
The most anticipated moments of the 2026 season were Luca Ward's performance "Il talento di essere tutti e nessuno", the autobiographical account by journalist Sigfrido Ranucci "Diario di un trapezista", and the concert by Gigliola Cinquetti. Also noteworthy were the homage to Lucio Battisti "Lumina-Emozioni" and the free opening for families with "Il Cantafavole".
