Lo Sbarco di Papa Alessandro III

Lo Sbarco di Papa Alessandro III is part of Grottammare's (AP) historical festivals, linked to the legend of the 1177 landing and the Sacra Giubilare. According to communications from the Municipal Administration, the reenactment returned to the summer schedule in 2026 after a three-year absence: therefore, the event was not held in its usual form in the seasons immediately preceding it.

When scheduled, the festival traditionally takes place at the beginning of July in Piazza Kursaal and along the seafront, with the Pope's arrival from the sea, the welcome by figures in medieval costume, the historical procession with cardinals and Templars, performances by flag-wavers and folk dances, and concluding fireworks.
