Edition 2025 โ Living Passion
In 2025, the village of Castelluccio Valmaggiore, in the province of Foggia, did not yet host the Living Passion: the sacred Palm Sunday re-enactment had been interrupted for about forty years and survived only in the memories of the older inhabitants.
A memory to cherish
The tradition of the Castelluccio Passion has its roots in the commitment of historical figures of the community, such as Father Michele Tangi and Professor Pasquale Cacchio, who were its promoters. For decades, the performance of the final moments of Jesus' life had accompanied the village's Holy Week before slowly fading away.
It is precisely from the desire not to lose this heritage that the project to bring the event back to the stage was born: a rediscovery effort conducted together by the Pro Loco, the Parish of San Giovanni, the ยซLi senz'artยป theatre group, and the Fraternita di Misericordia, which would lead, in 2026, to the return of the Living Passion to the streets of the historic centre.
