The Living Nativity at the Castle is one of the most anticipated moments of Christmas in Castiglione delle Stiviere, a town in the Alto Mantovano region, province of Mantua. The performance is set within the walls of the Castle, the ancient defensive and political heart of the city, where numerous re-enactors recreate an authentic Nativity village, animated by scenes of daily life.

Crafts and Live Animals

The nativity scene comes to life thanks to the many costumed re-enactors and the recreations of trades and workshops: traditional crafts are revived in the village scenes, accompanied by the presence of live animals that make the setting even more realistic. A journey that immerses visitors in the atmosphere of the Nativity, between historical suggestions and Christmas spirituality.

An Event for Families

The Living Nativity opens on the most symbolic days of the holidays – between St. Stephen's Day, New Year's Day, and Epiphany – and is designed primarily for families. To facilitate access to the Castle, a free shuttle service is available from the city center. The event is part of the Castiglione Christmas program, which animates the city with markets, an ice-skating rink, shows, and traditions between December and January.
