About Le Voci del Presente
A contemporary drama festival in Rome
Le Voci del Presente is a boutique festival dedicated to contemporary drama, held every October at the Teatro Tor Bella Monaca, in the neighborhood of the same name in Rome's Municipio VI. The festival is conceived and curated by the Compagnia Umberto Orsini, one of the most authoritative names in Italian auteur theater, and was founded with the goal of giving a voice to the stage writing of our time.
Theatrical research and new writing
The project brings together two worlds that rarely meet: on one hand, emerging companies of young artists exploring new languages, and on the other, artists already recognized at a national level for their experimental work. The result is a program that alternates between original scripts, monologues, adaptations, and productions capable of capturing the contradictions, fragilities, and questions of contemporary society.
The venues: Main Hall and Small Hall
Performances are split between the Main Hall (Sala Grande) and the more intimate Small Hall (Sala Piccola) of the Teatro Tor Bella Monaca, allowing each production to be adapted to its own dramaturgical scale, from choral works to more intimate actor-focused pieces. Alongside the performances, the festival offers Dialoghi al presente (Dialogues in the Present), in-depth meetings between artists and guests to explore the social themes addressed in the plays.
A suburban theater, a project for the city
Le Voci del Presente is much more than a festival: it is a cultural anchor in a frontier neighborhood like Tor Bella Monaca. The festival is supported by the Ministry of Culture and is a winner of the Roma Creativa 365 public call, promoted by Roma Capitale in collaboration with Zètema Progetto Cultura, demonstrating a concrete commitment to bringing great contemporary theater outside the historic center, with free admission and a strong focus on the local community.

Le Voci del Presente — edition 2026

The Teatro Tor Bella Monaca is located at Via Bruno Cirino 5, 00133 Rome (Municipio VI). By metro: take Line C or Line A and continue by bus (line 20) to the Tor Bella Monaca neighborhood. By car: take the exit from the Grande Raccordo Anulare (GRA) towards Tor Bella Monaca.
