Le Torce of Sonnino

On Saturday, May 31, 2025, Sonnino renewed its ancient Rite of the Boundaries. After the Holy Mass for the torchbearers at 10 AM in the church of San Michele Arcangelo and vespers at 2 PM, the procession of the Torce departed at 2:30 PM from Piazza San Pietro for the night walk of approximately 30 kilometres along the municipal borders, returning at dawn around 5 AM on Sunday morning.

In town, the evening was enlivened by music and performances in Piazza Garibaldi from 7 PM, with two fireworks displays at 9 PM and 10 PM, and the grand pyromusical show at 10:30 PM. On Sunday, June 1, the festival concluded with the thanksgiving mass at 11:15 AM and, in the afternoon, with a cultural meeting dedicated to the ancient Roman aqueduct of San Lorenzo, featuring contributions from historians and experts.
