The 2025 edition of Le Tavole di San Giuseppe

In keeping with centuries-old tradition, on March 19, 2025, the village of Monteferrante in the Val di Sangro (Chieti) celebrated Le Tavole di San Giuseppe. On the eve, the evening of March 18th, families prepared tables laden with food to fulfill a vow or express devotion, amidst litanies and prayers in honor of the Saint.

On the day of the feast, residents chosen for their age and moral standing portrayed the "saints" of the Holy Family, gathered around the tables in odd numbers. The Pro Loco managed the hospitality and the community banquet, serving pasta with tuna and salt cod, vegetables, legumes, and typical desserts such as li cillit and zeppole di San Giuseppe. Food was offered in exchange for a voluntary donation, in accordance with the spirit of solidarity of the ritual.
