La Transumanza

Throughout 2025, the Municipality of San Demetrio ne' Vestini, in the heart of the Sirente-Velino Park in the province of L'Aquila, continued its commitment to promoting the culture of transhumance, the seasonal migration of flocks along the shepherd trails that UNESCO has inscribed as Intangible Cultural Heritage. Lake Sinizzo and the Regio Tratturo Vestino, symbolic places of the town, continued to serve as reference points for initiatives linked to the Abruzzese pastoral civilization.

This path of identity rediscovery, supported by the Abruzzo Region, laid the foundations for the municipal festival of La Transumanza, which in the following edition brought together conferences, music, workshops, and walks along the ancient shepherd trails over two days.
