La Panarda of Villa Santo Stefano

2025 Edition

The Panarda 2025 was held on August 15th and 16th in Villa Santo Stefano, in the province of Frosinone, as the highlight of the "E…state a Villa 2025" festival, the calendar of events from June 21st to September 27th organized by the municipal administration with local associations and volunteers. On the eve, August 14th, Piazza Umberto I hosted a concert by Le Vibrazioni, drawing a large crowd to the Ciociaria village.

The ritual followed tradition: evening procession of the statue of Saint Roch on August 15th, nighttime lighting of fires in 17th-century costumes, and a long vigil by the panardari over the cooking of chickpeas in copper cauldrons. On August 16th, after the midday procession and the blessing of the cauldrons and bread, chickpeas and small loaves were distributed for free to residents, visitors, and tourists. Closing the festival was the Panarda lottery drawing on the night of August 17th. The 2025 edition was also accompanied by the dedicated website lapanardavillasantostefano.com, which collects history and information about the event.
