La Nueva Ola – Spanish and Latin American Film Festival

La Nueva Ola 2025 – 18th Edition

The eighteenth edition of the festival was held from May 7 to 11, 2025, at the Cinema Barberini in Rome, under the direction of Iris Martin-Peralta and Federico Sartori. The two competitive sections, La Nueva Ola del Cine Español and La Nueva Ola Latinoamericana, presented the best works unreleased in Italy, competing for the Audience Award, alongside the non-competitive Perlas and Clásicos sections.

Spanish films included Maspalomas by the Moriarti collective, Soy Nevenka by Icíar Bollaín, and Volveréis by Jonás Trueba, which was awarded at the Cannes Directors' Fortnight. For Latin America, works such as Las corrientes by Milagros Mumenthaler and La hija cóndor by Álvaro Olmos Torrico were presented. Guests included director Icíar Bollaín and Klaudia Reynicke. All screenings took place in the original version with Italian subtitles.
