La Notte nell'Ilex and Mugnaia Festival

Medieval Elice from August 6 to 13, 2025

From August 6 to 13, 2025, the village of Elice stepped back in time with a new edition of La Notte nell'Ilex, one of the most evocative historical-medieval re-enactments in Italy, accompanied by the Mugnaia Festival. For one week, the historic center came alive with over 400 costumed performers: minstrels, knights, commoners, and healers reconstructed 14th-century life amidst sword duels, archery, medieval games, and the spectacular horse joust.

In the village taverns, set up by the Elicethnos association and the Pro Loco, visitors were able to pay with the Ilex coin and enjoy mugnaia, the typical Val Fino pasta handmade with water and flour, served with meat sauce. An edition that confirmed Elice as one of the reference events of the Abruzzo summer.

14th-century medieval re-enactment with over 400 performers in the historic center of Elice for the entire week: minstrels, knights, ladies, commoners, and healers, with sword duels, archery, medieval games, markets, and period taverns. Highlights included the horse joust and the Court of the Inquisitions. In parallel, the Mugnaia Festival featured food stands dedicated to the typical pasta of the Val Fino and traditional Abruzzo peasant dishes.
