Edition 2025 — La Guerra del Sale

In November 2025, Torgiano once again travelled back to the 16th century with La Guerra del Sale, a re-enactment of the 1540 revolt against the papal salt tax. A historical procession with about a hundred participants, ancient crafts, food and wine stalls, and shows animated the historic centre of the village in the province of Perugia.

The 2025 edition of La Guerra del Sale renewed Torgiano's autumn appointment with the re-enactment of the 1540 revolt, when the village was the last stronghold in the clash between Perugia and the papacy. The streets of the historic centre hosted the historical procession with about a hundred participants, ancient crafts stalls, food and wine stands, and performances by flag-wavers, musicians, jugglers, and falconers, involving the entire community in a grand celebration of memory and tradition in the heart of Umbria.
