Edition 2025 — La Giostra

The 29th edition of La Giostra took place in Castello del Matese from August 1st to 3rd, 2025. The village in Caserta re-enacted the Siege of the Barons of 1460 with three days of costume parades, taverns, period games, and the ring palio. The reigning district of the edition was Platano, winner of 2024, called to defend its title in the horse joust between the three districts.

La Giostra 2025 in Castello del Matese

The 29th edition of La Giostra animated the historic center of Castello del Matese (CE) from Friday, August 1st to Sunday, August 3rd, 2025. For three days, the Matese village in Campania returned to the 15th century with the re-enactment of the Siege of the Barons of 1460.

The program alternated between costume parades, district taverns and banquets, craft markets, and evening shows, culminating on Sunday with the historical pageant and the ring palio, the horse joust that saw the Platano, Cavallo, and Torre districts compete for the title and the honor of naming the Lord of the Castle.
