Edition 2025 — Désarpa

The 2025 edition of La Désarpa of Valtournenche has renewed the ritual of the descent from the alpine pastures: the procession of adorned herds, the parade of the red-and-white spotted Queens, and the festival in the hamlet of Maën, with traditional lunch, Bataille des Chèvres, and dance.

In 2025, La Désarpa once again brought the magic of the herds' return from the alpine pastures to Valtournenche. The red-and-white spotted Aosta Valley cows, adorned with flowers and cowbells, paraded through the village to the hamlet of Maën, accompanied by breeders and residents in costume. The day continued with the traditional lunch, the Bataille des Chèvres, and dancing, confirming the festival as one of the most beloved events of rural tradition at the foot of the Matterhorn.

Programme

The 2025 program followed the traditional structure: morning procession of the herds from Valtournenche to Maën, typical Aosta Valley lunch, Bataille des Chèvres in the afternoon, and concluding dance.
