Edition 2025 — La Carrivalata

In 2025, the Carrivalata once again enlivened the San Cono Carnival with its traveling equestrian theatrical performance. On the afternoon of Carnival Sunday, masked horsemen rode through the streets and squares of the village, reciting allegories in dialect verses about the trades, seasons, and customs of the peasant world, following a tradition handed down by local San Cono poets.

The 2025 edition of the Carrivalata of San Cono confirmed the vitality of one of the most unusual Carnival traditions in Sicily. In the heart of the village in the Province of Catania, masked horsemen rode through the squares, reciting in the strict San Cono dialect allegories dedicated to the peasant world.

The event, organized by the Pro Loco San Cono, attracted residents and visitors, renewing the bond between the community and its folk poetry, which is preserved and renewed year after year by the town's dialect poets.
