Edition 2025 — LAQFF
The 18th Edition (2025)
The eighteenth edition of the L'Aquila Film Festival took place from October 1 to November 28, 2025, with screenings distributed between the Palazzetto dei Nobili and the Auditorium del Parco in L'Aquila. The competition featured nine titles, including international debut and second works and Italian documentaries, addressing current themes such as identity, memory, grief, disability, and social resistance, with a perspective ranging from magical realism to political thrillers.
The Winners
The jury, composed among others of Antonio Capuano, Maria Tilli, and Ornella Calvarese, awarded Best Film to Nero by Giovanni Esposito, Best Documentary to A Man Fell by Giovanni C. Lorusso, and Best Short Film to Medusas by Iñaki Sánchez Arrieta. The closing ceremony was held on November 28 at the Auditorium del Parco, confirming the festival's central role in the cultural landscape of the city of L'Aquila and Abruzzo.
