About Kune

Kune – Culture in Festival is the multicultural review of Cernusco sul Naviglio dedicated to the meeting of peoples. The name "Kune", which means "together" in Esperanto, was chosen by the citizens and expresses the spirit of an event that promotes culture, exchange, and inclusion. For several weeks between May and June, the town on the outskirts of Milan comes alive with music, traditional dances, ethnic dinners, fashion shows, photographic exhibitions, and performances by the many communities present in the area, from Ukraine to Peru, from Brazil to China.

Together, in all the languages of the world

In Cernusco sul Naviglio, in the province of Milan, Kune – Culture in Festival is the event that celebrates the intercultural richness of the area. The name is not accidental: "Kune" in Esperanto means "together", and it was chosen directly by the citizens through a questionnaire. A name that encapsulates the entire meaning of the festival, dedicated to the theme "Culture, Exchange, and Inclusion".

The cultures of the world in the square

The festival gives a voice to the numerous communities living in Cernusco and its surroundings: groups and associations from Ukraine, Peru, Brazil, China, and many other countries showcase their traditions through dances, music, costumes, and gastronomy. Fashion shows, photographic exhibitions, multi-ethnic dinners, and live performances transform the town into a mosaic of languages, colors, and flavors, in an authentic and participatory experience of encounter.

A choir that unites the continents

Among the most evocative moments is the final concert of the Elykia choir, a multi-ethnic ensemble that reproduces sounds and melodies born from the fusion of music from Asia, Africa, and Latin America. A finale that perfectly summarizes the spirit of Kune: demonstrating how diversity, when it meets, generates harmony.

A celebration promoted by the community

Kune – Culture in Festival is organized by the Municipality of Cernusco sul Naviglio together with local associations, and it is now an anticipated event on the town's spring calendar. In an era when the themes of integration and dialogue between cultures are at the center of debate, the festival offers a concrete model of how a community can make the meeting of peoples a celebration for everyone.
