The Kinemart Festival is an event dedicated to cinema and visual arts, born in Rome's Municipio VIII, a territory encompassing Garbatella, Ostiense, Montagnola, and the Appia quadrant. The project's name stems from the fusion of kine, the movement of images, and art: a formula that perfectly captures its hybrid nature, bridging the gap between a traditional screening room and an exhibition space. The goal is to bring the local community closer to the language of moving images, from film screenings to video art, photography, and contemporary artistic experimentation.

A project by Lostinlayout Gallery

The festival was created and proposed by Lostinlayout Gallery S.r.l.s., a nomadic Roman gallery that transforms unconventional spaces into temporary exhibition venues, bridging the physical and digital realms. The gallery operates across multiple creative fronts—from visual arts to music, independent publishing to design—and brings this multidisciplinary vocation to the Kinemart Festival. By choosing to operate outside traditional circuits, the festival inhabits courtyards, neighborhood spots, and unexpected locations throughout Municipio VIII, following the 'diffused festival' model that has become a hallmark of contemporary Roman culture.

Roma Creativa 365: culture all year round

Kinemart Festival is one of the projects selected under the Roma Creativa 365 — Rome all year round public notice, promoted by Roma Capitale through the Department of Culture and managed by Zètema Progetto Cultura. This initiative extends the tradition of the 'Estate Romana' (Roman Summer) across the entire calendar, with a special focus on the city's neighborhoods and suburbs. The project was included in the ranking for Section 1, dedicated to open-air cinemas and diffused film events across the city's districts, confirming its commitment to bringing cinema out of theaters and into public spaces and the heart of neighborhood life.
