Italian Paragliding Championship in Poggio Bustone

The 2025 Edition

From May 18 to 24, 2025, the sky over Poggio Bustone was the stage for the Italian leg of the Sport Racing Series, in the Gin Edition Training Day format. The organizers described the Rieti site as "the perfect playground for paragliding": a landscape of meadows surrounded by hills and mountains overlooking the plain.

The trials alternated between different formats, from races with waypoints to reach to concentric circle courses, and even the testing of a new race style called merry-go-round. The Alpine Rescue and the Italian Red Cross worked alongside the organizers, while regional councilors Elena Palazzo and Manuela Rinaldi emphasized the role of the Lazio Region in bringing one of the most prestigious events on the world stage here.

The edition confirmed Poggio Bustone as a reference destination for free flight and as a tourism driver for the entire province of Rieti, which has already been designated as the host for the 2027 World Gliding Championships.
