Edition 2025 — Madonnari of Sicily
Ninth edition, September 19-21, 2025
The ninth edition of the International Madonnari Competition of Sicily was held in Nicosia from September 19 to 21, 2025, once again transforming Via Fratelli Testa into a carpet of drawn prayers. The event, included in the celebrations for Maria SS. dell'Aiuto, saw the madonnari interpret the theme of the search for an authentic, disarmed, and disarming peace.
The 2025 edition was marked by a strong spirit of art, faith, and sobriety, dedicated to the memory of Giuseppe Maggio. The creative workshop dedicated to children took place in Piazza Garibaldi, a now traditional moment that introduces the little ones to this art. Organized by the Associazione Madonnari di Sicilia with the patronage of the Municipality of Nicosia, the Maria SS. dell'Aiuto Committee, and the Diocese of Nicosia, the event confirmed Nicosia as the Sicilian capital of the madonnari art, with free admission for the public.
