International Festival of Baroque Music

14th edition (2025): music, culture, and remembrance

From June 29 to July 6, 2025, Lanciano hosted the fourteenth edition of the festival, characterized by philological rigor and artistic passion, with a tribute to the Abruzzese composer Marco Di Bari, mentor of director Matteo Cicchitti.

The program alternated concerts on period instruments featuring Marcello Appignani, Matteo Pasqualini (organ, in tribute to Bach), Maurizio Paciarello (piano), Massimo Salcito (harpsichord), and the ME Collegium and Musica Elegentia ensembles, the latter being the protagonist of the final candlelight concert. Accompanying the music was the photography exhibition "Darkness – the beauty hidden in the dark," featuring eighteen local photographers, and a philosophical lecture on the dark side of the 18th-century Baroque. The main venues were the Diocleziano Auditorium, the Church of Santa Giovina, and the "Benito Lanci" Conversation House, with free admission to all events.
