Valentine's Day in the village of Monte San Biagio with a craft market, the Love Nest, and the flavors of the Ausoni Mountains
Innamorati a Monte San Biagio is the festival that the Municipality dedicates to Valentine's Day every February 14th. This is not a major national event, but something rarer: a day designed on a village scale, where the romantic atmosphere is born from the alleys, small gestures, and the hospitality of the locals. Monte San Biagio, in the province of Latina, looks down over the plains of Fondi and its lake, in a position that bridges the hinterland of the Ausoni Mountains and the Tyrrhenian coast of southern Lazio.
The logistical heart of the event is Piazzale Saint Romain Le Puy, named after the French town twinned with Monte San Biagio. Here, from the morning, the craft market stalls open: handmade creations, small gift items, and craftsmanship that tells the story of local expertise. It is the place where the day takes shape, among those strolling leisurely and those looking for a thoughtful gift to take home.
The most characteristic element of the festival is the Love Nest, the symbolic installation around which the whole day revolves. Anyone can leave a message there: a dedication, a thought, or a phrase for a loved one. It is a simple, participatory gesture that, throughout the hours, fills the nest with handwritten words and transforms it into the most recognizable image of the event. You don't need to be a couple: the Nest welcomes every form of affection, from declarations to memories.
From 12 PM, live music accompanies the square and the streets of the center, creating the soundtrack for the day. This is the moment when the celebration also moves to the table: you can taste the local wine and, above all, the Monte San Biagio sausage, the town's signature product, seasoned with coriander seeds and chili pepper, celebrated every year at the great Sagra della Salsiccia. Tasting it on a festive day, outdoors and in good company, is the most direct way to understand why this small town has become a gastronomic destination in Lazio.
Those who arrive in Monte San Biagio on February 14th find a village that isn't putting on a show: the festival is genuine, free, and family-friendly. There is much to see nearby, starting with the Sughereta di San Vito, one of the most extensive cork oak forests in Lazio, and the panoramic view over Lake Fondi and the Gulf of Gaeta. A Valentine's Day different from the usual, far from the crowded city venues, where romance is found in a market, a glass of wine, and a note left in a nest.
Promoted by the Municipality of Monte San Biagio and featured on the regional portal VisitLazio, the event is part of the winter calendar of the province of Latina, between the patronal feast of San Biagio at the beginning of February and the food and wine events at the end of the month. It is a piece of that network of small events that keeps the social life of Lazio's villages alive even in the cold season.
On Saturday, February 14, 2026, Monte San Biagio celebrated Valentine's Day. From the early morning, Piazzale Saint Romain Le Puy welcomed visitors with the opening of the craft market, featuring handmade creations and themed gift ideas.
At the center of the event was the Love Nest, where anyone could leave a message, a dedication, or a thought: a participatory gesture that characterized the entire day and involved residents and passing visitors.
From 12 PM, music provided the backdrop to the festival, along with local flavors: the fine wine of the Ausoni Mountains and the Monte San Biagio sausage, the village's signature product. Small gifts were provided for all participants. Admission to the event areas was free.
By car: take the Monte San Biagio exit on the SS7 Appia or from the SS213 Flacca heading inland; the village is about 25 km from Terracina and 30 km from Gaeta. By train: Monte San Biagio-Terracina Mare station on the Rome-Naples line via Formia, then a bus connection to the historic center. It is about 120 km from Rome.
Piazzale Saint Romain Le Puy and streets of the historic center, Monte San Biagio (LT).
Free access to the event areas; tastings and purchases at the craft market are paid.
The event takes place in mid-winter and is mostly outdoors: warm clothing and comfortable shoes for the sloping alleys are recommended. Parking is available in the areas below the historic center. Combine with a visit to the Sughereta di San Vito and a view of Lake Fondi.
