Il Sarapino - Saracino with the Ape

The 2025 edition of Il Sarapino - Saracino with the Ape brought the traditional challenge between the town's four districts back to Piazza Lazzeri, in the historic center of Civitella in Val di Chiana (Arezzo). As is customary, the festival opened with the Vigil of Arms and the propitiatory dinner, culminating in the final joust: aboard the Ape, the knights of the San Francesco, Porta Aretina, Porta Senese, and La Torre districts faced the buratto in three runs each to win the Retribuet. Between costume processions, moments of conviviality, and the inevitable playful spirit, the event confirmed its nature as an authentic community ritual, capable of combining historical memory and popular entertainment in the heart of the Tuscan Valdichiana.
