Edition 2025 — Il Mascio

The 2025 edition of Il Mascio of Pietrapertosa took place on Sunday, June 15th, the first Sunday after June 13th. The village in the Lucanian Dolomites renewed the ancient arboreal rite in honor of Saint Anthony of Padua, with the transport of the holm oak and the holly top, the marriage between the trees, the procession, and the final erection of the Mascio.

In 2025, Il Mascio of Pietrapertosa was celebrated on Sunday, June 15th. As tradition dictates, the rite began with the cutting of the holm oak in the woods of Montepiano on June 13th and concluded the following Sunday with the triumphant transport of the trees to the village.

The community accompanied the teams of oxen through the village streets to the symbolic grafting between the Mascio and the Cima and the evocative final erection, amidst the town band, wine, and biscuits offered to participants, preceded in the morning by the procession with the statue of Saint Anthony of Padua.
