Il Mascio di Pietrapertosa

In 2025, Il Mascio di Pietrapertosa was celebrated on Sunday, June 15th. As tradition dictates, the rite began with the cutting of the oak in the woods of Montepiano on June 13th and concluded the following Sunday with the triumphal transport of the trees to the village.

The community accompanied the pairs of oxen through the village streets to the symbolic grafting of the Mascio and Cima and the evocative final raising, amidst the town band, wine, and biscuits offered to participants, preceded in the morning by the procession with the statue of Saint Anthony of Padua.
