Edition 2025 — Il Giullare
17th edition — 2025
In 2025, the Il Giullare Festival transformed by becoming touring: the build-up started on July 1st in Cerignola, before concentrating the contest week in Trani, from July 13 to 18, on the outdoor stage of the Centro Jobel. The Company Gala on July 19th crowned "Il Mistero di Notre Dame" by the rehabilitation centers of Venosa and Bernalda, directed by Maria Pia Matera, the only standing ovation of the week, awarded for best set design and best direction.
Among the awards: best actress to Deborah Tetta in the role of Esmeralda, second place to the Veronese company "Diversamente in danza" with "Alte frequenze, altre sequenze" (also winner of the Critics' Choice Award, the audience vote, and the "Fantagiullare"), and the Emotion Award to the Roman company of Federica Abete. Companies from Rome, Venosa, Bernalda, Gioia del Colle, Adelfia, and Verona took turns on stage, with the Gala hosted by Marco Colonna. The edition closed on July 22nd with "Frà ," written, directed, and performed by Giovanni Scifoni.
