"Bernini's Marble": the 2025 edition
On August 13th and 14th, 2025, the historic centre of Cottanello, in the province of Rieti, hosted an edition of "I Vicoli dell'Arte e dei Sapori" focused on the theme "Bernini's Marble". On August 13th, from 6:30 PM, the itinerant theatrical show "Sante Ghetti. The Visionary Master and the Marble of Cottanello" was performed, with free admission.
The performance, promoted by the Associazione Culturale Art@ - Progetto Kamaleontis with the patronage of the Municipality of Cottanello and the support of the Lazio Region, retraced the feat of the columns that in the 17th century brought the Sabina red marble from the quarries of Cottanello to the interior colonnade of St. Peter's Basilica, highlighting the figure of master Sante Ghetti and the context of the Roman Baroque of Bernini and Borromini. A story of art, history, and territory, open to citizens, tourists, and families in the alleys of the red marble village.
