I Fanòve and Festivities of Maria SS. della Vetrana (The Days of Fire)

The 2025 edition of the festivities in honor of Maria SS. della Vetrana in Castellana Grotte (BA) began on January 3rd with "Ab Origine — Virgo Maria", the chapter of the historical re-enactment dedicated to the role of women in the plague drama of 1690-1691. On January 5th, The Diana took place, the nocturnal visit to local olive mills to collect oil for the Virgin's lamp at the Sanctuary.

On January 12th, in Piazza Garibaldi, the "Fanova in Festa" event featured a concert by Cipurridd starting at 9:00 PM. Due to adverse weather conditions, the Night of the Fanòve, originally scheduled for January 11th, was postponed to January 14th: the first bonfire was lit at the Sanctuary of Santa Maria della Vetrana around 7:00 PM. The procession of the venerated image from the Sanctuary to the church of San Leone Magno took place on January 15th.
