Holy Week Rites of Monte Sant'Angelo

The 2025 edition of Holy Week in Monte Sant'Angelo combined centuries-old rites with a rich musical program. On Friday, April 11, the Church of San Francesco d'Assisi hosted the "Concert for the Addolorata" by the "Città di Monte Sant'Angelo" Band, while on Monday, April 14, Mozart's "Requiem in D minor K 626" resonated with the Orchestra di Capitanata, soloists, and two polyphonic choirs.

On Tuesday, April 15, the Stations of the Cross departed from the Grotto of the Sanctuary of San Michele Arcangelo along the Angevin staircase. On Holy Thursday, in the Church of San Benedetto, the Visit to the Sepulchres took place with the rite of the Sepulchre Wheat; on Good Friday, the Office of Tenebrae, the Miserere, and the Terremoto preceded the 6:30 PM Procession of the Dead Christ. The celebrations closed with the 'Sparo della Quarantène' on April 20 and the Marian processions on Easter Monday.
