Edition 2025 — Good Friday in Barletta
2025 Good Friday Edition
The 2025 edition of the Holy Week Rites in Barletta reached its peak on Good Friday, April 18. As per tradition, the day was marked by the two city processions: the Eucharistic-Penitential Procession of the Ninth Hour, with the Barletta confraternities and hooded, barefoot members following the silver ark of the Blessed Sacrament, and the evening Procession of the Holy Wood of the Cross, departing from the Basilica of the Holy Sepulchre.
Local reports once again highlighted the "living" nature of the rite that distinguishes Barletta in the landscape of Holy Week in Puglia: not statues carried on shoulders, but the Eucharist under the vermilion canopy, a memory of the historic promise made by the city in 1656 at the end of the plague epidemic. A deeply identity-forming event for the Municipality of Barletta and the entire diocesan community.
