Edition 2025 — Holy Week in Lanciano
The 2025 edition of the Easter rites in Lanciano, organized by the Arciconfraternita Morte e Orazione San Filippo Neri, took place on April 17 and 18. On Maundy Thursday, at 10:00 PM, the brothers with their faces covered by hoods walked in silence through the city streets, carrying the symbols of the Passion in the Procession of the Hooded Penitents. On Good Friday, at 7:00 PM, the Procession of the Dead Christ traversed the historic center with the statue of Our Lady of Sorrows and the talami carried by 70 children. A major highlight was the new litter, weighing 150 kilograms compared to the 250 of the previous bier: entirely hand-carved in linden wood and enriched with gold leaf, it carried the 18th-century effigy of the Dead Christ in a scenographically refined setting.
